In scorching conditions at Edogawa Cricket Ground on the 17th of July, 8 teams (54 participants) battled it out for the Cricket Blast Kanto Cup.

After some closely contested round matches (including a tie from Monstars and Falcons A in round 1) MIB A and AQCC Jumbos were undefeated and thus both teams qualifying for the Final.

AQCC Jumbos proved too strong for the MIB A team defeating them 101 to 51 to take home July’s CB Kanto Cup.

In the 3rd place play-off AQCC Dinos edged out MIB B 56-29 to win by 27 runs.

6th – Falcons A

Thanks to all who took part in the day, particularly to the umpires, scorers and team managers who helped the day run so smoothly.

After a year long absence in 2020 due to the coronavirus, the Cricket Blast Kanto Cup has finally returned to Edogawa in 2021.

Almost 50 participants took part in the event on Saturday April 10th. Teams from Kawasaki Knight Riders, Tokyo Rangers, MIB, Tokyo Falcons and Tokyo Titans all played very well throughout the fun-filled day.

After the round matches, Tokyo Rangers and Tokyo Titans A were both undefeated and thus earning their spot in the final.

A closely fought contest saw Tokyo Rangers (50 runs) claim the Cup ahead of the Titans (32).

A big thank you to all the parent supporters and volunteers who helped with scoring, umpiring and running of the event on the day!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next event on May 15.

11月1日に秋季2回目となるクリケットブラストシリーズを開催しました！

市内を中心に小学生約20名が集まり、クリケットを楽しみました。多くが前回から引き続き参加のリピーターで、上達してゲームで活躍する姿が目立ちました。

お隣では2020年15歳以下クリケットリーグの決勝戦が行われており、その様子に子どもたちはくぎ付けになっていました。将来、活躍している姿が楽しみになります！

佐野では10月25日に秋季のクリケットブラストシリーズが開幕しました！

天候に恵まれ、青い空のもと、ふかふかした芝生の上でクリケットを楽しむことができました。

9時からのビギナーコースでは小学校低学年の体験者を中心に10名以上が集まりました。打つ投げる、捕るなどのプレーをしながらたくさん駆け回り、気持ちの良い汗を流していました。

10時からのゲームコースではジュニアクラブで普段からプレーしている選手や、学校や以前のクリケットブラストシリーズでプレーしたことのある選手などを中心に、試合を行いました。今後、成長してジュニア世代のクリケットリーグに出場したり、日本代表として活躍する選手が現れたりすることが楽しみになります！

こんにちは！川島将巨（かわしままさき）と申します。今回スタッフとしてクリケットブラストに参加できることを非常に嬉しく思います。簡単ですが、自己紹介をさせて頂きます。

私は大学1年生から大学のクラブでクリケットを始めました。2年時には学生日本代表に選出され、香港への遠征に参加したり、3年時にはキャプテンとして大学のチームで全国優勝を達成しました。

私はクリケットのバッティングが特に好きです。なぜなら、クリケットのバッティングは360度どこにでも打てるからです。野球だとファールになるようなところでもクリケットなら全て打点になります。クリケットブラスト参加者の皆さんもどこに打球を飛ばしたら、得点になるかを考えながらバッティングをしてみましょう。きっとクリケットの面白さを実感できると思います！

Hello! My name is Masaki Kawashima, and I am very excited to be a staff member at this Autumn’s Cricket Blast. Here’s a brief introduction.

I started playing cricket in my first year at university, playing for Wyverns Cricket Club. In my second year, I was selected for the University national team and where we had a tour of Hong Kong. By my third year I was captain of my university team where we won the national championship!

In cricket, batting is my favourite. I particularly like that you can hit the ball 360 degrees. Everything that would be called a foul in baseball, can be runs scored in cricket. Cricket Blast participants can also try their hand at batting, figuring out where to hit the ball to score runs. I’m sure you’ll find cricket to be a lot of fun!

こんにちは！オーストラリアから2019年に昭島市に引っ越してきたチェルシーです。

私は10歳からクリケットを始めました。その後、プレミアリーグのダンデノンでプレーし、幸運にもオーストラリア・カントリー・チャンピオンシップでビクトリア・カントリーの代表として選出され、キャプテンを務めました。

コーチングを始めたのは16歳の頃からです。現在は昭島ジュニアクリケットクラブのコーチをしています。 選手の皆さんに新しいスキルを教えたり、ウィケットを取った時やランをした時の皆さんの笑顔を見るのが大好きです。

Hello! My name is Chelsea, I’m from Australia and moved to Akishima in 2019.

I first started playing cricket when I was 10 years old. I played premier cricket for Dandenong and have been fortunate to represent and captain Victoria Country at the Australian Country Championships.

I first started coaching when I was 16 years old, and I am the current coach of the Akishima Junior Cricket Club. I love teaching players new skills, and seeing their big smiles when they take a wicket or make a run.

I’m so excited for Cricket Blast to be back outdoors in Akishima this Autumn. Let’s have fun playing cricket together!

7月11日は、お家でクリケットブラストシリーズの4週目であり最終週でした！この4週間はあっという間に過ぎていきました。このシリーズに参加してくださった皆様、ありがとうございました。屋外のブラストとは違った楽しみを経験できたのではないでしょうか！

第4週目　動画のまとめ
・私たちはスローイングについて話し、クリケット女子日本代表の金田選手からスローイングをする上で重要なポイントを教わりました！

・U19日本代表の森田真登選手から試合の中で彼の好きなプレーについて教えてくれました！森田選手はウィケットを取ったり、バッティングで4点や6点取ることが好きだそうです！

全四週間のアクティビティのまとめを行いました！
・バットやノートを使って落とさず何回ボールをリフティングできるかやってみよう！
・私たちはクリケットで好きなことについて話し合いましょう！
・レッグスピンに挑戦！
・いくつかのトリッキーなキャッチングゲームにチャレンジ！

On Sunday was our fourth and final week of the Cricket Blast at home series. The past four weeks have flown by and we can’t believe it’s already over! A special thank you to all our participants over the series, we sincerely hope you had as much fun as we did running it!

Week 4 Summary
– We talked about throwing, Women’s national team member, Ayaka Kaneda, gave us some great points to help us
– We did some bat or notebook taps
– We spoke about our favourite things about cricket
– Masato Morita, Under 19 Japan team representative, told us what he loves about the game, including taking wickets and hitting boundaries
– We tried out some leg spin bowling – the best kind of bowling 😉
– There was some tricky catching games

We also announced the Akishima Mayor’s Cup which will be run on the 22nd of November. Now’s the time to start getting your team of 6 together!
