石塚小学校が佐野市最強のクリケット王者としての力を見せつけた大会でした。先週の土曜日開かれた秋のスクールカップに、石塚小学校から出場した２チームが４試合全勝のまま決勝でぶつかり合ったのです。
大会は１１月１日の予定でしたが、悪天候のため１１月１６日に変更となりました。このため、界小、佐野小、植野小からの７チームに「佐野フレンズ」を加えた合計８チームが出場しました。
当日は絶好のクリケット日和に恵まれ、８時半には会場の田沼高校に出場チームが到着、待ち受けていた熱心なボランティアの皆さんやアンパイア達に迎えられました。
昼食までには各チームとも三試合を戦い、試合時間はそれぞれ４５分でした。昼食後、準決勝、続いて決勝戦が行われ、午後３時３０分に無事閉会となりました。
シノザキナオキ君をキャプテンとする石塚１は全ての試合でずば抜けたプレイぶりをみせ、第一次準決勝では、余裕で佐野を降しました。前大会の優勝チームで、コデラニマキャプテン率いる石塚２と決勝でぶつかったのは当然の結果でしょう。石塚２は準決勝で界２を破って決勝に進みました。
決勝はまちがいなく接戦が予想されました。最終的には石塚１のバッティングが勝利をたたき出しました。特に素晴らしかったのは、試合のスタートの６球で２５のスコアをあげたナカガワタイガ君のバッティングでしょう。そしてその初球はシックスでした！
参加者の皆さんにとって最高の一日だったこと、そして来年はさらに多くのチームが出場してくれることを祈ります。
Ishizuka Elementary school showed why they are the dominant cricketing force in Sano last Saturday as the two teams they entered into the Autumn School Cup both reached the final winning all four matches along the way.
The competition was re-arranged after bad weather forced the cancellation of the original date on November 1st, which meant eight teams took part with Sakai Elementary, Sano and Ueno also represented along with an additional team called “Sano Friends”.
With perfect weather conditions for cricket at Tanuma High School the teams began to arrive at 08:30 and were greeted by a keen group of volunteer helpers and umpires for the day.
Each team would play three matches before lunch, each lasting 45 minutes, and afterwards there would be a semi-final and final with proceedings concluding at 3:30pm.
Captained by Naoki Shinozaki, Ishizuka 1 were outstanding in all their matches and comfortably beat Sano in the first semi-final. It was no surprise when they came up against the previous winning captain Nima Kodera’s Ishizuka 2 in the final, who won their own semi-final against Sakai 2.
The final promised to be close but in the end the batting of Ishizuka 1 proved too strong with Taiga Nakagawa being especially impressive scoring 25 from his 6 balls at the start of the match, including a first ball 6!
We hope that everyone who took part enjoyed the day and that we will see more teams taking part next year.
